Position: Science Online Site Licensing Sales Representative, East Coast Territory

The successful candidate will increase new site licensing business for an important & prestigious line of electronic journals to direct customers and consortia in the Eastern United States and Canada. Representative will provide general support to the Manager of Site License Sales including assisting with renewal efforts and up-selling additional e-resources. This includes making sales calls to existing and prospective clients; contacting current customers to gather updated information on their accounts to maintain an effective CRM tool; coordinate and deliver customer solutions; participate in formulating strategic sales goals and directions such as new markets, pricing models, and ways to build new business in the territory. Candidate will also assist with end user training for all e-resources; give product presentations; execute effective sales/marketing plans and maintain a solid understanding of all accounts in the territory.

In cooperation with the Manager of Site License Sales, candidate will provide regular pipeline reports; assist with promotional marketing efforts, including planning and attendance at workshops and luncheons for customers, making presentations and working at trade shows to seek new business. Both promotional marketing efforts and outside sales calls may require overnight travel and in some cases international travel. Based on skills and ability, position can be filled at a higher level.

Qualifications: Position requires a Bachelors degree and a minimum of two or three years previous journals sales experience including knowledge of electronic publishing & site licensing. The candidate must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong attention to detail and courteous customer service skills. They must possess the ability to work effectively in a team environment with a proven track record to meet expected sales calls over a specified period of time. Outstanding number crunching, strategic planning, sales analysis and analytical skills are required along with the ability to evaluate and understand complex business concepts, especially relevant to site licensing sales. Strong written, oral, and presentation skills are required to interface effectively with a large number of external contacts. The ability to demonstrate a high-level of independent thinking, judgment, and resourcefulness is a must.

The position includes a very competitive base salary plus commission and is located in Washington, DC.
